February 3
Well the latest road trip to Mobile and
the Abba Shrine Biker's Ball &
Rally brought more excitement. It
somewhat was reminiscent to the early roadside fun
that started this whole crazy trip 3 years ago when we lost the
trailer canopy.
It wasn't our fault, Promise!
November 4
Our Deepest Condolences & Prayers are
with those who have lost friends or family recently. We at Thunder
Roads feel the sorry as much of Northeast Alabama recently with the
death of James Hayes, Sheriff of Etowah County since 1986. He was a
friend of the biker community and will be deeply missed.
Then within days the legendary club owner Bill Walton, the “Duck
Man”. It brings a somber mode for us all…
if you’re old enough you’ve got a memory of one, the other or
both…depending on how much fun you had that night!!! Either way you
must have had too much fun to get to know them and known the kind of
really good folk they were. We will miss the both and all those that
we loose daily.
Guess it’s a sign of getting old and the simple facts of life that
we all go sometime but still never easy.
God Bless The USA and the fact that we can ride free!

We had the pleasure yesterday of going to meet up with SFC Wesley
Annable and the OCC Army Chopper for an interview and photo shoot.
Very nice guy and very cool bike. Look for the feature in the
December issue of the magazine!

We would like to extend our prayers and condolences to Greg Collins
and family with the loss of his Dad, "Mr. Collins". Greg has been a local
bike builder for years and known across the country for his work.
Our thoughts & prayers are with you. Sincerely The Thunder Roads
Crew.

We would like to ask everyone for prayers
for our fellow TR crew member Kenda Wheeler, her mother was
diagnosed with anaplastic thyroid cancer, this type of cancer
survival rate is about 94 days from diagnosis. Kenda is the wife of
Brian, aka The Two Wheelers, who cover events for us at many
rallies. Please keep her mother in your prayers no matter who or
what you pray to.
Thanks...The TR Crew

It is with deep regret that I share with the
biking community, the loss of one of their own, Former Sheriff of
Shelby County, James Lewis Jones, Sr. On July 6th, 2007, after three
months in the ICU and IMCU at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, James
went to be with the One he served faithfully as Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ. He is survived by his best friend and wife of 29
years, Debbi, a son, James L.
“Buck” Jones, Jr., as well as 7 grand and great grand children.
Most bikers will remember the Sheriff for
making sure that any organized ride coming through Shelby County was
properly escorted and kept safe by his deputies as well as the law
enforcement of surrounding counties. He also helped to organize a
biker Sunday School class for the Church at Brook Hills, which
regularly worshiped as well as rode together. Debbi would like to
thank all those members and others who held vigil with her during
these past three months, as well as the caring staff at Shelby
Baptist.
Sheriff Jones started with the Shelby County
Sheriff’s office in 1974, serving as Deputy then Chief Deputy before
being elected as Sheriff in 1991. He served three terms, until
retiring in 2003. A graduate of the University of Alabama Law
Enforcement Academy, he served as President of his class, going on
to graduate from the FBI National Academy, then furthering his
education through programs in the National Sheriff’s Institute, U.
S. Secret Service, National Institute of Corrections, National
Center for Missing and Exploited Children, National Sheriff’s
Association, and serving as Chaplain for the Alabama Sheriff’s
Association. Sheriff Jones was very involved in developing the
Shelby County Law Enforcement Chaplain’s Association and the C.A.R.E.
Team, specializing in critical incident stress management. Unwilling
to sit quietly in retirement, he accepted an appointment to the Sate
Safety Committee from Governor Bob Riley and became a member of the
Silver Haired Legislature.
It would take more space than is available
to mention all the advisory boards, progressive changes and
difficult cases that were solved as a result of the Sheriff’s hard
work and dedication; which left Shelby County and the rest of the
nation a better place. Although he was diligent in doing his very
best with everything he put his hands to, he never forgot how to
have fun. We will miss his pigtail hat, quick wit, warm smile and
the love of Jesus that shone through his eyes. Keep a lookout,
Sheriff; these frail children of dust who called you, Friend, will
be seeing you again!

In Loving Memory of Barry Mason
- 1944 - 2007
From Hell’s Angel to Heaven’s Saint, Barry had truly “Been there,
Done that..”His evangelistic ministry has touched thousands of lives
all over the United States and Canada, but on July 4th,
2007, the Lord called Barry home.
Barry was the founder
of the Heaven’s Saints Motorcycle Ministry. He also had an avid
youth ministry and prison ministry, as he never gave up trying to
reach out to folks and let them know how Jesus had changed his life
and how He could change theirs as well.
Barry will be missed
by all of us, but his legend will always thrive throughout all
motorcycle ministries. We know where our beloved brother is, so all
we can say is,....”Ride on Barry, Ride on!”

Subject Biker Struck by lighting...
Body: For all of you who may or may not be ready to meet the lord
,you never know when its time to go home( or not). There was a full
grown man who was at a bike rally called June Bug Boogie in TN, this
past weekend June 23 2007 ,all of the sudden a storm blew up and
this particular man named George Wood had just dismounted his motor
cycle and was standing there with arms crossed checking out the
scene when before he or anyone else could say or do anything he was
struck in the head by a horrific bolt of lighting it ran threw him
and out the other side of his bike threw his kick stand and threw
dirt a good 15 to 20 feet around to other bikes ,the man fell the
same way he was standing ,, my brother in law and I were the first 2
people to the man ,and we saw his life leave him ,,frantically
everyone screamed for help and the medics ,we got out of the way and
our ministry immediately started praying for god to save this man he
died at the scene several times with frantic shock treatments by the
medics they managed to get his heart beat back but with no avail he
was unplugged and passed on at 6:00 the next night ... This is for
every one who reads this or tells this story (this true story) you
never know when your time will be up ..this poor man and his family
had no idea it was his time at of all places an adult only Bike
rally ,so please listen to this message and make your life right
with God hes the only way the truth and the light you can have
eternal life with him as your savior and you never now when you go
but threw him you go to a better home in heaven .... IN MEMORY OF
GEORGE WOOD a fellow biker and with deepest sympathy to his family
and friends ...

it out and see what you think.
http://thunderroadsalabama.hyperboards.com/
June 30-07
Ya'll browse
around the revamped site and let me know what you think. I have
added a
Rogue section! Yeah! Finally man! Anyway he's got it all
going on with the info we want to know. Check him out. I'll try and
post all of his latest stuff so bear with me or visit his site,
www.bikerrogue.com.
Our site as it was...was getting too
cluttered to me, call me lazy, call me crazy, just call
me...whatever...like most people I want an easy to use
web experience so with the help of a little
CW and a lot
of moto I got r dun...at least for today
Well actually
here's the real truth...This really wasn't by choice, actually one
of those Microsoft induced kinda loose all of your files while
editing live to the web kinda things...don't know, don't care, and I
am sure there is a guru somewhere out there who can tell me why and
how, but really...Also check out the mag online for a
online 4th of July special, I know we should do it all of the
time...I am working on it!
I'm over it,
thanks... Cheers 2 U
Enjoy!
